§ 8-4. Improper dispensing of motor fuels.

  • (a)

    Each person who dispenses automotive motor fuels within the city shall be required to dispense only lead-free motor fuels into fuel tanks of motor vehicles equipped or manufactured for the use of lead-free motor fuels.

    (b)

    No establishment shall alter or modify any motor fuel pumping or dispensing device, mechanism or nozzle so as to cause leaded motor fuels to be introduced into the fuel tanks of motor vehicles equipped or manufactured for use of lead-free motor fuels. Any such device used for the dispensing of leaded motor fuels shall have a nozzle of no less than 0.930 inch outside diameter.

    (c)

    Each establishment shall post upon its premises in a conspicuous place in public view at or near the fuel pump a sign in substantially the following form:

    "WARNING: IT IS UNLAWFUL TO PUMP LEADED MOTOR FUELS INTO MOTOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED OR EQUIPPED FOR THE USE OF LEAD-FREE MOTOR FUELS."

    (d)

    The code enforcement officer of the city shall have full authority to enforce this section and violations of the provisions hereof shall be punished as provided by law for violation of municipal ordinances.
