§ 2-354. Undue burden petition process for qualifying as candidates.

  • (a)

    Any registered elector seeking to qualify for the office of mayor or city commissioner who is unable to pay the filing fee prescribed in section 6.06 of the City Charter without imposing an undue burden on his or her personal resources or on resources otherwise available to that person may qualify to have his or her name placed on the ballot for the election by means of the petitioning process prescribed in F.S. § 99.095.

    (b)

    Any person seeking to qualify for office who is unable to pay the election assessment without imposing an undue burden on personal resources or on resources otherwise available to him or her shall, upon written certification of such inability given under oath to the city clerk at the time of qualifying, be exempt from paying the election assessment.
